Wow, congrats dude! Did you have to compete for it? Or doesn’t it work like that at your place?
With my white belt, I wrote down the year I started BJJ and the year I got my blue.
Now I use the white belt when I go to judo!!

Good goals mate. I’m working on the t-rex arms myself, makes a huge difference.
The name game… sheesh, don’t tell me about that… everyone where I train has three or four-syllabled names… Tsugunuma-san… Shiroaki-san… Morotomi-san… It’s a nightmare!

Congrats!! Got my Blue/White belt on Friday. Just gives me more incentive to train harder. See you on the mat.

rs, thanks and congratulations to you too!! I agree, more incentive to train harder!
Teddy, yes it feels great. Like my coach said, I didn’t let the injuries get in the way. Thank you!

Congratulations!
They haven’t given you the blue belt to reward you, they have given you the blue belt to recognize what you have become. It’s just an externally visible sign of what’s already happened inside you.
I haven’t got mine yet, but I’m not impatient the way I used to be. I know that I *AM* “blue minus” now rather than “white plus”, and that’s good. I trust them. They will recognize the point when that “minus” can be erased.
As for you – you’ve climbed the hill and now you can see the mountains beyond it!

thanks nugae!!
Long time no hear, glad to see you’re still around
“blue minus” haven’t heard that term before, I like it better than “high-level whitebelt”

Thanks Matt! No, there wasn’t a competition. There was a test where everyone going for the blue belt had to do some drills, then everyone rolled, including the others going for other belts or stripes.
That’s cool what you do with your belt… hadn’t thought of that

Nice job. I still remember when I was given my blue belt. It’s a great accomplishment. Keep training.

Wow forlogos,
That’s excellent news! It is good to see that you fought through your injuries and layoff to keep going.
It’s funny how you mention that after 2 1/2 years you would be receiving your black belt in another MA. When we were having our ceremony our instructor said the same thing. He went further by saying that the blue belt is like the black belt in most MAs.
Congrats.
